PROPOSED UPDATES TO ZONING REGULATIONS

12/8/2020 -
Staff, in conjunction with the City Attorney and a planning consultant, has been working on updating the City of Gonzales Zoning Ordinance for several months. The purpose of the project is to amend the current regulations based on state law changes, clarification of regulatory language, and content changes to better align zoning regulations with the City’s comprehensive plan and strategic goals. The proposed changes will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council at a joint meeting in early January. Following the joint meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 5:15 p.m. to consider a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Public comment is encouraged. Comments may be submitted by email to citysecretary@gonzales.texas.gov or through attendance at either of the public hearings.

Once the joint meeting date has been scheduled, the information will be posted to this page.

Zoning Districts

The city has been divided into various zoning districts to provide for an orderly growth pattern, to foster homogeneous land use development, and to ensure availability of adequate public facilities. Zoning districts have been selected to enhance the usage trends indicated by the comprehensive master plan.
